MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET Product Name: URE-KOTE 2000, Part A SECTION 1: IDENTIFICATION MANUFACTURER: LiquidConcrete, Inc. ADDRESS: P.O Box 16782, Seattle, WA 98116 PHONE: 1 (800) 201-9300 CHEMICAL NAME: N/A COMMON NAME: URE-KOTE 2000, Part A CHEMICAL FAMILY: N/A SECTION 2: HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS INGREDIENT % CAS # 9016-87-9 101-68-8 SECTION 3: HEALTH HAZARDS ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: Eye contact, skin contact, inhalation and ingestion. Acute Exposure: Moderate irritation to the eye, mucous, respiratory system and skin upon direct contact. Inhalation exposure most likely if product is heated or forms mist or aerosol during pouring, frothing or spraying operations. Symptoms include eye and nose irritation, dry or sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, wheezing and laryngitis. Coughing with chest pain or tightness may occur, frequently at night. These symptoms may be delayed several hours and can be aggravated by physical exertion. High aerosol concentrations can cause inflammation of the lung tissue, chemical bronchitis with severe asthma-like wheezing, severe coughing spasms and accumulation of fluid in the lungs which could prove fatal. Chronic Exposure: May cause discoloration and hardening of skin after repeated exposures. Respiratory sensitization has developed in some persons as a result of large or repeated exposures and usually develops in the first few months of exposure. Sensitized people react to very low levels of product. May also cause hypersensitivity pneumonitis which is characterized by shortness of breath, fever, tiredness, cough and chills. May diminish lung capacity. Exposure will likely aggravate existing respiratory disease such as bronchitis and emphysema. Exposure Limits: Teratogenicity: Irritancy of product: Reproduction Toxicity: Sensitization: Mutagenicity: Carcinogenicity: Synergistic Products: ACGIH TLV-TWA = 0.005 ppm Not available As noted above Not available As noted above Not available ASHA PEL 0.02 ppm Not available Lethal Dose Lethal Concentration 369 ppm/4hr (aerosol rat, inhalation) H.M.I.S. Refer individual to physician if irritation persists. Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothing thoroughly before reuse. Get medical attention if irritation persists. Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Give artificial respiration as needed. Obtain medical attention. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Wash mouth out thoroughly with water. Give 3 or 4 glasses of water DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING BY MOUTH TO AN UNCONSCIOUS OR CONVULSING PERSON. If aspiration to the lungs is suspected, obtain medical advice urgently. Consult a physician. SECTION 5: FIRE AND EXPLOSION DATA Flammable Flash Point No. Toxic gases may be generated if heated. 158°C (open cup) Not available Not available Oxides of nitrogen, oxides of carbon, oxides of sulphur and traces of hydrogen cyanide. No No Use appropriate means to extinguish surrounding fire. Use water spray to cool containers. The reaction of water and hot product may be vigorous. Firefighters must wear self-contained breathing apparatus. SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Leak and Spill Procedure: Secure the spill area. Use all applicable personal protective equipment. Prevent run-off into sewers, storm drains and surface water bodies using dikes and absorbent materials. Collect spilled materials in suitable closed containers. SECTION 7: HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling and Storage Procedures: Keep containers tightly closed when not in use. Do not reseal contaminated material. Store in a cool, dry place away from all sources of ignition, direct sunlight and incompatible materials. Do not store near foods. Upper/lower flammability limit Autoignition temperature Hazardous combustion products Sensitivity to static discharge Explosion data, sensitivity to impact Means of extinction: Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Revision Date: January 26, 2007 Page 2 of 4 Effective Date: January 26, 2007 MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET Product Name: URE-KOTE 2000, Part A SECTION 8: PERSONAL PROTECTION AND EXPOSURE CONTROLS Skin Protection Requirements: Natural rubber gloves, impervious coveralls and boots recommended. Eye Protection: Safety goggles strongly recommended. Respirator Requirements: NIOSH recommends up to 100 ppm positive pressure, full face-piece self-contained breathing apparatus. Additional Protective Measures: Safety showers and eyewash stations should be available. Engineering Controls (specify ventilation, enclosed process): Use a combination of general dilution ventilation and local exhaust ventilation to control exposure. Use precautions for confined entry situations. SECTION 9: TYPICAL PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Physical Form Color Odor Vapor Pressure Vapor Density (Air=1) Odor Threshold Evaporation Rate (n-Butyl acetate=1) Boiling Point Freezing Point pH Specific Gravity (water=1) Solubility in Water Liquid Dark Brown Slightly aromatic Not available 8.5 Not available Not available 410°F (210°C) @ 5 mmHg Not available Not applicable 1.22 Insoluble in water SECTION 10: STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Stability: Will decompose if heated. Do not store above 70°C. Reacts with water to form carbon dioxide gas. Incompatibilities (Materials to avoid): Incompatible with water, strong bases, alcohols, amines and metals. Reactivity: Hazardous polymerization will occur above 200°C. Closed containers may rupture if heated. The reaction with water is slow under 50°C. Hazardous Decomposition Products (by high heat and fire): Oxides of nitrogen, oxides of carbon, oxides of sulphur and traces of hydrogen cyanide.
